Because it's not Itch, it's the developers of the game not ensuring it works with Itch.

I offered a workaround. If you want it to be fixed then message the developers.

Whenever this or most other download errors happen you can paste the link from the navbar in Itch to your browser and download it from there.

You don't get notified of updates, nor can you launch it from the Itch App, but you should be able to download the games.

I figured out what it was; autosave was triggering on every choice I made. Turned it off in the config.py and it was instantly faster with no freezes.

I'll add to this, I get similar problems.

Version: 0.1.12.2

Windows 10, pretty decent computer.

Tried with simplify AI (and without).

1.As the game progresses, and (I suspect) the AI has more and more things to check, even trying to do a simple 1 min action like suggest X takes about 4 or 5+ seconds to finish.

2.Another problem (very possibly related) is when first selecting an option, the game will sort of freeze for roughly the same amount of time as the above, even if that option just leads to more options. Example: Chat -> works fine for a few seconds then freezes for roughly 5+ secs then works fine again -> suggest -> works fine to freeze to fine -> Some suggestion -> freeze -> is good or bad -> shows initial text bubble then freeze for 4-5. Going backwards in a convo also causes it to freeze.

1. Is probably just optimization, too much/too deep or too frequent checks for AI.

2. Because the freeze time is nearly identical I suspect you're calling whatever function to check AI actions by accident each time an option is selected.

I can get a vid if you need it.

Oh, neat. I assume that's skipped if you go with advanced start?

I mean, pretty much every resource but your own time and guild reputation is pointless (and even that loses it's use for most of them after a while), and you are even rewarded for just letting time fly by. There is no point to doing any slave request as you can always just skip a week ahead and re-roll the requests.

That being said, a big buff to reputation or rare resources (things you can't just farm, like mythic leather or monster drops) for these quests would be way better than any gold increase.
